About
This is a blog/website dedicated to same sex parents. My partner and I have been together for 8 years. We have a 4 year old daughter named Maya, a one year old son named Bryan, and a 7 year old Chocolate Lab named Carly. Each of us gave birth to one of the kids and we used the same donor for both. Life has been interesting and fun since the kids came along. One aspect that really intrigues me is the different relationship we each have with the children. Although we have been pretty consistent in our parenting styles and “roles” within the family, each of our “biological children” seem to have a closer bond with us.
My background is in Education and I have spent a very good portion of my life working with children. Even before I “realized” I was a lesbian, I was sensitive to diversity issues. Since having my children, I have become even more frustrated with the lack of diverse families in the mainstream media. The children’s books out there that have two moms or two dads in them are extremely limited and frankly, not so engaging for children. I have completed my first children’s book that just happens to have two moms in it as the background subtext and am currently looking for an illustrator and publisher. I am excited about this new adventure and path that my life is taking.
